Explosive Forces by D.D. Ayres

Explosive Forces is the next installment of the K-9 Rescue novels by D.D. Ayres and I was very excited to be able to read this book before it came out! I've recently read a few of the other books in the series and found that I really enjoyed all of the tie ins to the other books. This story is about a former model, Carly, who finds herself in some seriously hot water with a hot arson investigator. Noah Glover is in over his head but can't seem to help himself when it comes to the gorgeous girl who saves him.

I enjoyed the story line in this book even though it doesn't really tie into the series like the rest of the books I've read so far. I absolutely adored the K-9 star of the book Harley and his devotion to his master. Noah is so very alpha male and could certainly start fan my flames any day. Carly is an interesting lady but I couldn't really picture her in my head very well with the descriptions. I liked the couples interactions and really felt like I could understand not only the danger but the urgency in the book. I do wish there was a little more build up during the end scene but I don't feel cheated or anything. I really have enjoyed this series and can't wait for the next!!

This book was provided to me by NetGalley in exchange for my honest review!

United As One by Pittacus Lore

The conclusion to the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series is here. The Mogadorian invasion has come to Earth, and they have all but won the battle for our planet. Their warships loom over our most populous cities—like New York City, Tokyo, Moscow, Beijing, and New Delhi—and no army will risk making a move against them. The Garde are all that stand in their way . . . but they are no longer alone in this fight. Human teens from across the globe, like John Smith’s best friend, Sam Goode, have begun to develop Legacies of their own.The Garde have always known there is power in numbers. If they can find these new allies and join forces with them, they just might be able to win this war. The time has come for the Garde to make their final stand.

I have been reading this series for the last few years and I am sad to see it come to an end. There was A LOT of action in this last book, which I think was to be expected if you've been a fan. I both loved and hated what they did to Johns character in this last book. Grief can do some horrible things to a person as we see with a few characters here but I'm glad that in the end grief doesn't win. I do think that they wrapped everything up a little quick in the end. I would have been happy with another couple hundred pages to iron out the details but what can you do. I'm really hoping that with the way things were left they either bust out another book, a spin off or even some more novellas!

If you haven't read this series I would totally recommend it - the writing and story are spot on!
